MADE IN NEW ORLEANS: A SURVEY OF CONTEMPORARY ART
FROM THE CRESCENT CITY
Contemporary Arts Center
Gallery Hours: Thu.-Sun. 11am - 4pm

The exhibition was organized for the Centre for the Living Arts (Mobile, Alabama) by New Orleans artist Jacqueline Bishop, immediately following Hurricane Katrina. All of the works were made before the hurricane, and represent the strengths of a vibrant artist community that flourished.

Today, in the Post-Katrina situation, many of the artists are dispersed across the United States. Through the exhibition, they will be able to remain united through their art.

While the exhibition is richly diverse, with a range of mediums, styles, and subjects, the content is, across the board, strongly humanistic. Thirty-one well-established artists are represented, including Luis Cruz Azaceta, Ron Bechet, Raine Bedsole, Willie Birch, Blake Boyd, Dawn Dedeaux, David Halliday, Lory Lockwood, Jim Richard, John T. Scott, and Robert Warrens.
